In 2022, across the 140,000 km of pipes we manage worldwide, more than 120,000 leaks were found and repaired, including 40,000 in France. This is equal to 330 leaks a day.
Reducing water loss is a key concern for local regions. In France, around 20% of water taken from the environment doesn’t make it to the tap. We are developing innovative digital solutions to detect leaks, predict breakages and optimise maintenance and upgrading works to continually improve the performance and resilience of water networks. Sensors placed on pipes collect data in real time, providing optimum visibility on how the network is operating, and adapt a proactive maintenance strategy to ensure continuous and reliable water distribution.
In Macau, China, the AQUADVANCED® Water Networks solution detected a leak in the private pipes of the University of Macau, avoiding the loss of 5,000 m3 of water, equal to three days’ worth of water used by the university.

A number of local authorities have entrusted us with the operation and maintenance of their drinking water production and wastewater treatment plants. We guarantee that their plants run smoothly and meet the necessary quality standards, as well as ensuring continuity of service. On a delegated basis, we also operate on-site wastewater treatment plants for industrial groups. We take care of plant management and maintenance to ensure optimum performance at the lowest cost.
We are helping the authorities in Egypt to address the challenges facing the country in relation to demographics and climate. In Cairo, we are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the largest wastewater treatment plant on the East Bank of the Nile. The Gabal El Asfar plant ensures that treated water discharged into the natural environment is of optimum quality, protecting the water in the canal near the plant and the water in the Nile Delta.

To ensure sustainable, responsible and efficient management of water resources, we develop innovative solutions to optimise the treatment of drinking water and wastewater from the sewage network, protect water quality and manage flood risk.
We use efficient and sustainable treatment methods and are working permanently on identifying ways of reducing emissions.
We encourage wastewater recycling by means of a suitable biological treatment process to remove contaminants and make the water safe to reuse (for example, in farming).
We are working with the authorities in Nice on the Côte d’Azur on the plan to transform the Haliotis treatment plant, one of the biggest in Europe. Haliotis 2 will be able to treat and reuse wastewater from 26 towns in the Nice area, equivalent to 680,000 people, remove 90% of microplastics from the effluent and provide new renewable energy sources.
